« Part 21: we have a glue up Part 22 of New desk for my computer series no next part

except for hauling this thing out of the shop to where it will call “home”...
Hutch came out of the clamps, sanded things down, added screws in the top…

Just in case someone wants to pick up the desk by the top of the hutch….ran the round-over bit around a bit, and set the hutch on the desk…

While I figure out how to get everything stained…everything that will show…

Took a while, let this sit until the stain dried. Got to thinking..( dangerous, I know..)thinking I could add a door in front of those cubby holes…never know what may wind up in there….so..

resaw some Ash scraps…2 stiles, and 2 rails. Each got a 1/4” groove, then the rails got a small tenon to fit in the grooves…why the grooves? To hold a plywood panel..

Clamp and glued up..

Let sit overnight…dug up some hardware, out of the spares box…

next day, sand and plane it a bit…add a coat of stain…

Hmmm, grain upside biggie….after everything was dry….set about try a coat of amber shellac on the entire hutch, door and all….

Door installed, front brackets installed, and even..

Ones for around of the hutch needed a second coat of shellac….and that rubbed out with some 0000 steel wool….All I need now is a few strong bodies to help move this desk and hutch upstairs, and replace the old desk..
I can handle the drawers, and the Hutch…desks? need help with those ( next desk I build will be out of Balsa?)

I think this has taken almost 6 weeks? Last week of June, until now. Thanks for putting up with me on this little Project. Will post photos of the moving day follies, IF anyone wants?.....Then it will get posted as a Project…
Stay tuned….the “fun” is about to begin…

Good call on adding the door. Thanks for putting the effort into this blog!
