« Part 11: Top cleaned up, and installed Part 12 of New desk for my computer series Part 13: 2 drawers done...more to do.. »

Took 2 people to get the desk down off my tablesaw, yesterday. Took a couple trips up and down the stairs, hauling planks of 1×6 pine (3) and an Ash 1×6 ( best looking one of the lot) and other items….

Had work for the saw…cut enough blanks for the 4 main drawers….

Yes, there are 6 blanks of Ash sitting there….I picked out the 4 best…

As for the other two?

They had an issue with a knot…

I doubt IF I want this in a drawer front. May rip these down to 2” width, for the knee well drawers. Main drawer fronts are: 3/4” x 4-7/8” x 14”

I also cut and ripped some clear ( as clear as I can find) Pine for the sides of 4 drawers…

They are about 3/4” x 4-7/8” x 18”....and I even rough cut 4 pieces for the drawer backs

Set up the Stanley 45…#12 cutter, for some 1/4” wide grooves

And set up a jig, to hold things still, long enough to plough a groove…

Fence was set a little low…but got the 4 fronts done…

Then reset the fence, and the jig, and run the 8 sides through..

Was a busy day..making “noodles”

Then set things up for a dado to house the drawer backs…

Instead, I tried the dovetail set up….as the first set is always the worst, until I get things adjusted…

Stay tuned….

Due to the way the router was run…straight down….means all the chips come straight back up….got a beard full…grrr. last time i did this, the chips went down…due to a long lost shield on the router…..

Well i figured Lowes, or even Wall E World would have a full face shield, like for a lathe or a grinder? NOPE.

Wound up getting a pair of $3.15 goggles that fit over my glasses….yep, chips were bouncing underneath my safety glasses….can’t have that.

So, Shiop should be open Tuesday, we’ll see how well things go. Knee seems to have Uncle Arthur, and it got a shot, today, with a very LONG needle..ow!. Knee still numb, will see how it goes in the morning…
