« Part 3: day 3.... Part 4 of Porch Project series Part 5: Friday's Follies... »

Rain moved through the area…was able to go out and get a bit done…not much, but maybe enough..
walked out with a square and a pencil….had already used a spindle to mark the heights of each post….square was to carry the line around, to where I could cut it, AND see it…

Some didn’t need a whole lot lopped off..others…

now, there is no way I am holding the circular saw up and try to cut these lines…Dug out an old yard sale find..

case and all..$10 ( needed a new blade clamp, is all) but, it also needed a new blade..

As that little metal cutting blade won’t do, when cutting 4×4s…first post I tried to cut, once the rain quit for a while…shook way too much…..so, I added the top rails to steady the posts a bit..

Worked well enough to try the cap rail….at least on the south side…east side?

Worked…those two planks laying out there on the ground…are the store bought treads, that didn’t work out…rain came back for a bit….

Checked on the front downspout…working great….as very little water comes down this one..

That little roof is where the front gutter comes from..

Not like it will be a water fall. More rain….gave up, for Thursday….Maybe the rain will leave on Friday?
Stay tuned…

Nope…
Remember that old Dewalt router I “picked” last year or so…may two? have a used for it, maybe….HUGE round-over bit, to round over the tops of the cap rails….might work…

Well…router was given a large roundover bit…

Had to find a pair of wrenches that fit..

Then got it ready to go outside..

Then onto the top of the cap rail..

This router has a lot of torque, you NEED both hands on this one…covered me in shavings/chips…results?

Then the rain showed up….end today’s work schedules….
