« Part 7: Frame installed, desk sides milled Part 8 of A computer desk series Part 9: Catching up »

Usually not a good combination….seemed to have “lost” a day….

Plan was to do through dovetails, to connect the four sides of the desk unit….didn’t quite go as planned
Laid out a few tools…to do the lay out work…

That bevel gauge…the angle it’s end was cut at….turned out to be the same angle I wanted for the pins..

Was going to use those dividers to set the spacings….I merely came in from each edge. And whatever the middle pin turned out to be….Then the dovetail saw

Seems to do the job nicely, enough. Then came the chopping out of the waste (headache started in)

Chopped about halfway down, leaving a tab out on the end, for support….so when I flip the board over, and chop from the other side…

Then I could stand this end up on the part that will be a side of the desk…making sure I had the correct one

Then I could trace around the pins, to mark out the tails ( headache getting worse..vision issues) and bandsaw to the waste side of the lines, leaving the lines…and a few extra cuts to help the waste leave

Then clamp this on top of another board..to save the top of my bench. Same as with the pins, chop half way down from each face….

Then time for a dry fit..

Tad bit snug….can pare for a better fit if need be…better than too loose of a fit. Set these two aside

I’ll get to that front rail in a bit….or at least try…Got the other back corner done…

Headache getting worse….got the pins milled on the front rail..

And that is as far as I got, that day…..bad migraine….wound up in the Hospital overnight…..Lost most of Friday…getting the head scanned….they did find a few cobwebs in there…

Taking today, and maybe tomorrow off from the shop….not feeling all that great…

Stay tuned,,,

bandit,

Sure hope things turn around for you on your migraine…..Those are no fun to have to put up with…..You need to take time off and recover….I’m home now recovering from the back surgery I had a few days ago, and it’ll be a long time before I can get back to my shop….Think about your health and taking care of yourself….That’s more important.

Head seems to have cleared up. It is this chest cold I am fighting now. And boredom. I can do a little bit, come back upstairs, and chill out for a while. Can’t see the doctors until tomorrow….if then.
