Ok. Had a few Pine scraps…too large for the fire pit, might as well build something…one plank was a might too narrow, and a bit too thin…..and had a big old knot..

Knot had to go…cut the “good” ends at 8” long….
The other boards?

A 1×10,,,had a few issues….a pitch pocket, and a knot just waiting to fall out….board #3?

Also had those two issues, plus a wany edge…the 1×4 will be used as a stretcher….marked the bad sections out, and ripped them out with the bandsaw….

May be able to use these scraps for jigs? Set the 3 pieces together..

Hmm..been using that Stanley No.3c lately….maybe clean some edges with it?

I had already used it the match up the two pieces for the legs….and even cleaned the face grain…

Went ahead and marked the leg blanks, and made a few cuts…

set these two aside, with the stretcher. Jointed a few edges on the other three parts

Getting better at ripping, didn’t need quite so much to get an edge straight…set the first two up on the bench, to check for gaps….left them sit there, while I jointed #3..

They never so much as wiggled. That one board needed trimmed down a bit, to match the other two….and get rid of the nasty grained, crooked end…

Works for me. Laid the three together, trying for the best grain match..

Not too bad? Glue and clamps..

Will let this sit a day….set the legs up, where they will go..

Something like this? Then a stretcher in between? Will cut the stretcher blank a bit..

As this is just too blocky….Through mortise and tenons, wedged with a wedge of Walnut…
Just a simple pine stool…stay tuned..
