« Part 2: A day of planes, handplanes that is Part 3 of From cut-offs to.... series Part 4: A glue up. and a PIP »

Still sore today, decided to try to get something done

Like a few bevels?

The other end grain bevel was done like the first one….also used a different #4..

A #4c model….Made in England..

Cuts a might deeper than the other Stanley #4 I have….Used the Millers Falls to get things close, then the final work done with the #4.
Ok, ends are done, next was the long sides…

This time, it was more of holding the plane at a”skew” and going along until a bevel showed up..

Goal was to get a nice crisp corner detail… Turned the board around, and repeat for the last bevel..

Then cleaned everything with a smooth plane..

Then, after sitting this board out of the way, I got out one leg. Used it to mark where the legs would sit…

So I could figure out how long the aprons should be. With a 3/8” long tenon on each end…cut to length..

On the smaller Mitersaw. The larger Langdon has depth stops..

Soo, these need shoulder cuts done. Used one to make a test cut..

To make sure the depth was right…handle side needed to adjust down a hair…

Depth stops are holding the saw up. Made all the other shoudler cuts this way. Then the bandsaw made the cheek cuts, and trimmed the tenons..

Got things set up, to chop some mortises…

The curved foot has to hang over the edge of the bench, for the leg to lie flat….got the first hole dug..

Then rotate, and repeat….Got three mortises done..

Enough for a dry fit….was getting the next one ready to lay out…

When the back of my legs started cramping up….swept the shop..

Was enough of this stuff, to fill the dustpan..9 times…trashcan is now 1/4 full.
Called it a day….maybe tomorrow, I can chop the rest of the holes, and get a few more things done?
Stay tuned..

Looks like fairly plane sailing to me.
however, considering the facts as reported:-

Still sore today, decided to try to get something done

Cranking away on all those F and G clamps along that Miter box cannot be doing you shoulder any favours.
The sawdust and shaving, well that can also wait, rack the broom too!
Pull up for a while, get the banana chair out, relax, and enjoy the sun, ... and test out some nice drinks.

Otherwise I know of a ER nurse who may be able to drop by and give you a shot in the rear end to calm you down, until healing has taken place.

maybe tomorrow,

How about next week we can wait you know, ... its doesnt need to be turned into a terminal project!
