no previous part Part 1 of A little time off series Part 2: Back to work, a box from Poplar scraps »

Usually after most large projects, I take a day or two off from the shop. I may take about a week, this time around….

Rust Hunting around, finding a few extras for the shop…..a drill here, a saw there, maybe a couple planes…
Drills? well, there are a few “eggbeaters” in the shop….may have to re-arrange things a bit, to get these all put away..

From a HUGE Millers Falls No. 2-01 down to a “Granite” single speeder….

Will try to hang these up by the chucks. Some of the caps are a bit too loose. One has a different sort of “cap”

You slide a tab around, to open the storage for the bits. I had to clean up the bench’s top, just to lay these all out….needed it, anyway. Tool well is now empty of all non-tool junk. Found almost a dozen pencils, almost as many screws..couple of pounds of shavings and sawdust… I also found a few screwdrivers….including these two..

Anyone you know? I do have a red plastic “rack” over on a wall, just for such items….they just seem to wander over to the bench, and never leave. Cleaned two other items up..

One on the left has “Heller” stamped on it. Still looking over the other one.

Project that MIGHT be coming up? Two, actually….one involves a stack of Poplar to make yet another box..

The other? Seems I have a few “Butcher’s Saws” hanging around, doing nothing but collecting cobwebs….there is a bit of Maple 1×4 left over…..was watching a fellow on a site on youtube called Traditional Chinese Woodworking ( GE Hong) that spent three 1/2 hour shows, making a frame saw. I MIGHT try that. Need to find a few metal parts. Like a rod I can add a threaded wing nut to, to tension the saw. Couple length of brass hinge pins, like used on a door hinge ( can even be a steel pair) to hold the ends of a saw blade, from one of the Butcher’s saws… we’ll see.

Need to move a few braces out of one til, so I can hang all six eggbeaters up. Then, while waiting on those parts, I might build a box, of some sort…now that the bench is all cleaned up.

Stay tuned….
