no previous part Part 1 of Walnut & Cherry, new project series Part 2: Out of the clamps.. »

Chest of drawers is done…still have a pile of “leftovers”...

A small stack of Cherry….a 1×4 x7’ plank of walnut, and a few other odds & ends….

Decided to resaw the Cherry a bit, so I planed them to about the same thickness and width. Made a jig for the bandsaw

To see IF it would help with these tall boards.

Brought the Walnut plank to the shop….made a few crosscuts…

It had a section that needed to be…gone…..wound up ripping a good section out of it, though

Was trying to match the length of the Cherry panels…..then did a little re-design work. The Cherry would still be panels, but

They would be Raised Panels, and sit in Frames of Walnut…

Used the “new” Stanley #4 to bevel the edges of the panels. Then started making parts out of the Walnut 1×4s…

Needed a few rails made. The Stanley #45 was set up to mill a 3/8” wide groove, 3/8” deep. Then, I also made the end pieces..stiles…

Also with the grooves. Bandsaw was busy. Between the rip cuts for width, and the foot details….
It also helped cut tenons to fit in the grooves…so I could do a couple glue ups..

Side #1 ( Front? Back? We’ll see…)

Side #2…..let these sit overnight….stay tuned…..

Nice use of left overs. I’m wanting to see what it becomes! Nice!
