New clamps

I finally upgraded to big boy clamps. I won four jorgenson cabinet clamps on ebay ( 2 three foot and 2 four foot) for $80 (locale pickup only). I used them to clamp up a cutting board and I now know what I was missing all these years. They kept the wood perfectly inline. They will save me a lot of clamp up time.

Yes you’ve discovered the sheer convenience of this type of clamp. I’ve got a bunch. One thing I’ve found is that different brands have different depths from back to bar so if you’re using 4 of them (2 of one brand and 2 of another) the bar height when laid on the bench is different. It’s great to have a glue-up sitting flat on all four bars instead of floating above two of them.
So, if I can I try to get the same brand.

Congrats!!!! Blondie dogs me all the time when I say, “I won this on EBay.” She replies,” Oh so it’s free?” I’m like no, it cost me X amount of dollars. Her reply, “well if you’re paying, you really didn’t win this honey.” Ahhh, aren’t our better half’s so much fun. So every time I win or someone else wins something on EBay I think of this…. Thought you might get a kick out that.

Clamps are like nice tools once you get a few you can never have enough. Congrats to you and enjoy.

Jealous! Nice clamps are on my Christmas/Father’s Day/Birthday/Any Other Present Giving Occasion list…I’ve heard from enough people on here that there really is a difference between the cheapo’s and the nice ones that I want to get a few to try out myself.

The more serious I get about woodworking the more I realize that quality of tools really does matter.

Ken: It must be a wife thing; Donna says the same to me when I tell her of the great deal I got on ebay.

Hey Don, congrats.
They are really great. I have had problems with glue getting into the ‘teeth’ along the length of the bar. No biggie, but maybe wax, or wax paper, or just wiping them down will keep ‘em going for a long time.

Steve: I use cling wrap or wax paper(depending on the type of project) to cover the clamps. Stops the glue from gumming up the teeth. Hope this helps.

You can never have too many clamps, and a good deal on them is even better, congrats.
