Work bench top? - 4 replies

I’m building a new work bench and ran into a situation where I want to remove a piece of wood from the top. The top is 70in. Long and I’m planing on using the table saw to cut it. Question is, should I try to cut along the side of the glue line, or should I cut the center of the glue line?

My shop is a metal building and the studs are on 4 ft. Centers. I’m wanting to hang 4×8x 1/2” plywood. Do you think I can get away with putting 1 extra wood stud in between the existing metal studs. I would have 2 ft. Centers all the way around then. One thing I might add, the walls has got to be striaght! I can’t stand to...

What plane to buy or use? - 10 replies

I haven’t had the need until now to plane or flatten a large surface. The only plane I have is a #4 Stanley smoothing bench plane. I’m going to build a new yellow pine work bench and know I’ll need to do some work on the top unless I’m better than I think I am. The top will be put together in sections of about 10 inches e...

Unisaw restoration - 4 replies

Well I got the new arbor installed, thanks to Brad for his help locating one. Still sanding on the top, trying to get the 30 year old scratches out. Whoever used this saw didn’t take real good care of the top, but I guess that’s expected, it came from a cabnet shop. Anyway it’s coming together, hope to have the dust collect...

Unisaw restoration over! - 19 replies

I guess my restoration is over. Had a friend to replace arbor bearings, and got it back today. A new one is 589.00 so I guess the saw will be sold for scrap or parts. I thought the bearings were good but decided to change them while I had it tore down, wish I’d left it alone. I’m sick.Gerald

Is it me or am I seeing a lot more post with people having trouble with Grizzly tools? I’ve noticed numerous post lately about table saws and band saws having trouble. Could Grizzly’s quality control gone down, or is it the fact that they sell so many that it is normal. Or is it just me.Gerald
