I was just about to bite the bullet and purchase a lathe tool sharpening jig (about $100), when I decided at the last minute to check Craigslist. But what are the chances of finding a lathe tool sharpening jig on CL in Salem, Oregon? Well, surprise, surprise. Not only that, but it was NEW IN BOX and I picked it for half the price of a new one! Moral of the story, always check CL first :-)
I haven’t had a chance to mount it up and try it out yet, but I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

Nice! I bought that jig at woodcraft and have been really happy with it. I should have checked craigslist first though :)

Glad to hear you have had good luck with it. I’m a little nervous about my spindle gouge. I’ve been reading tutorials and watching videos on it for weeks. I guess I just gotta suck it up and do it now.

I “wasted” a few millimeters of steel getting my gouges just right the first time I used it. But it’s not really a waste if you’re learning something, right? The tricky part for me was getting both ears even while keeping the bevel smooth all the way around. Practice makes perfect!

Good score. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it. Are all the pieces there?
