Help: miter/crosscut sled for portable/jobsite (SMALL) table saw - 10 replies

Long time, no chat, jocks. Now that the scary yellow orb has returned above the God-forsaken wasteland that is the Upper Midwest, I’ve been able to drag my tools out of storage (more specifically, the CEO’s walk-in closet) and get cracking. My first two missions for the year are to build some sleds for my table saw. Have watched a...

Alternating stains on edge-glued panel - 2 replies

Hello, fellow jocks. Reached a bit of a milestone in my journey; have been “commissioned’ to build a coffee (beer) table for a friend’s man cave. Since he’s a huge basketball fan, I got the idea to make the tabletop in the style of a basketball court, complete with the same marking’s as his favorite team’s hom...

Not woodworking-specific, but ... USA-made Craftsman tools -- found. - 9 replies

This may very well be in the wrong forum and, if so, I apologize in advance. But … for those, like me, who foolishly still hold some sort of loyalty to the Craftsman brand, I have managed to track down a fairly strong supply of USA-made Craftsman hand tools at a local Sears Outlet. I’m still in the process of building my first ...

Thoughts and opinions on Direct Tool Outlet? - 13 replies

Have stopped in the many, many times over the years and today, pulled the trigger on a “refurb” Ridgid Palm Router ($60… couldn’t say no). Only made one tool other purchase there—a Ryobi Sliding Miter ...

Filling the toolbox... - 7 replies

While not trying to sound like a broken record, I’m going to start this post by refreshing you fine, talented folks on where I’m coming from: First of all, I’m a mid-30s guy who rents and is just starting to get into the hobby. That said, I’m starting to build up a nice tool collection, including some bigger-ticket items ...

Treated lumber disposal - 2 replies

Lots of odds-and-ends projects over the last few months have left me with a bucket full of stubs, nubs and chunks of treated lumber. I know it’s not supposed to be burned and I’m guessing in the trash and off to the landfill is bad, as well. Is there a suggest method for getting rid of what’s left?

A little help, please (Apologies if this is the wrong forum) - 8 replies

Hello, Lumberjocks. First time poster, long time reader, etc. etc… As my profile states, only took about 30 years but I finally inherited the family gift (obsession) with woodworking and have started to build up a bit of a tool collection, despite not having an actual shop, basement or garage. That said, to thank my father for putting u...
