Seriously though, intent to mix metal and wood with my projects, was thinking that others may want to go that route as well.

Great review of fundamentals and like safety comments
Under fasteners you mentioned screws, rivets etc.
What was the other fastener that sounded like queekos?..
My hearing is going and could not delineate what you said
