« Part 3: Connecting The Pieces Part 4 of Scofield Study Bible Box Christmas Gift series no next part

Using three of the 10” strips, I lined them up and joined the edges until I found an attractive layout for the top. It took several passes on the jointer and table saw to get them exact but it finally came out just right. Given that the jointer is old, used and unadjusted since I bought it, I felt I had to use the table saw to clean it up by just a hair. Not to bad though considering these were the first boards I ever ran on a jointer and they were the test pieces for this recent purchase… Probably should have played around with it and adjusted everything with new blades first but… well I was in a hurry.

Really wish I had a biscuit jointer but since I don’t, I simply lined them up and glued them together.

After clamping for a day and some minor trimming to square the piece off to the exact dimensions of the box. Below is the glued top for the box. Also attached is a shot of the box holding the bible itself. It fit PERFECTLY. Very pleased so far with the outcome of this project.

Let me know what you all think so far. I still need to find a good way to attach the top to the box itself and really would like your suggestions!
