Lumber storage that I can drive my car under - 16 replies

I landed a good deal on some black walnut the other day. I got 450 bf S2S for $1000! I initially was planning on storing it in my family’s barn. The more I thought about it the more it seems like a hassle not having my lumber closer to my workshop. My problem is I have an old mustang in my workshop and no place to put the lumber on the flo...

Supermax 2550 vs Jet 2550 - 4 replies

Good morning. I’m going to buy a drum sander in the next week or two and can’t decide which unit I want to get. I’ve read a lot of reviews and forum posts online recently regarding supermax and Jet drum sanders. However, most of them are for smaller units. Both of the units are priced the same right now and I get also get an ad...

Dewalt 734 re-assembly - 0 replies

Good morning, I recently purchased a shelix for my DW734 planer. I watched a installation videos on youtube, but ultimately decided to follow the instructions on the Shelix website. It looked like a pretty straight forward installation, but it has been giving me some difficulty. The whole cutter assembly that slides up and down the 4 posts...

Need help with this joint - 5 replies

My wife is really set on having me make 2 of these as nightstands for our bedroom. I already have the walnut for these and am ready to get started on these in a few weeks. I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to approach the lower shelf to the legs. I would appreciate some input if this is a good approach or if i’m over th...

Need a Stanley type 7 chipbreaker for #6 plane - 5 replies

Good morning. I recently purchased a plane off of eBay and it came with an incorrect chipbreaker. The current chipbreaker does not allow the blade to be retracted far enough to be used. I can return it, but I’m responsible for the shipping which is more than the plane is worth. I’m in need of a chipbreaker for a stanley type 7 #6 ...

Delta Contractor Saw Handwheel Needed - 11 replies

Good morning, I have a Delta 36-650 contractor saw. Yesterday I was adjusting the blade height and the hand wheel broke in half. My blade angle hand wheel isn’t in great shape either. I was hoping to order 2 new hand wheels, but they are no longer made and google/ebay didn’t turn anything up either. Does anyone have any ideas f...

Leg Vise question - 8 replies

Good morning, Today is an exciting day and I’m finally assembling my new workbench. The one last thing I need to make is the lower leg guide for my leg vise. I’ve seen the lower leg guide attached to the chop in 2 different ways. Some seem to fix it in place so it doesn’t move at all and other seems to put one pin through it...

How much danish oil - 4 replies

I’m almost done with my new workbench. 6’ long roubo/shaker style. I’m planning on finishing it with danish oil but I have never used it before. The general dimensions of the bench are 36” high, 72” long, 24” wide. The cabinets will be raised panel and approximately 48” long, 18” high, and 18” wide. Will a pint be enough or will I need more?

Jointer blade frustration - 6 replies

I’m in the process of building a workbench currently and have been getting a bit stressed with my jointer blades. I got a “deal” on some white oak 2×6x9’ at 1.14/bf. I’ve used my jointer in the past on some hardwood, but mainly softwood. I had a brand new set of blades that were completely dull after face joint...

One armed projects - 13 replies

Good morning, I’m having surgery next week and my left arm is going to be out of commission for a couple of months. I’m not worried about the surgery, but I’m sure worried about being unable to keep busy with my usual projects. Fortunately I am right handed. I’ll still be able to use my left hand, but it is going to be...

Cost of jointer plane - 12 replies

I was looking to get a few hand planes. In general, I prefer old and used over new. I don’t have any local places to purchase from so I am basically stuck using only eBay. I’m sure my question will be hard to answer because of all the factors, but what is a general price range for a used jointer plane #7 or #8? I am purely looking fo...
