New Woodturning Experience - the Good and Bad

I’ve put together a video of my first woodturning commission. This was a challenging project when I was newer to wood turning. Now that I’m more skilled, I’m sharing this video with tips on what not to do. There’s a mix of stain matching, finishing, layout, and turning in this video. I hope you enjoy it.

Scott, I watched this video when first posted on YouTube a couple of days ago and found it very interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience.

I’ve said it before Scott, your deliberate and organized approach/manner of working is to be admired. I have been woodworking over 40 years (hobbyist) and still find myself rushing or putting the cart before the horse during a step in the process. You give me pause to reassess my methods. Thank you for sharing your skills and experiences. BTW, doing all the finishing with the piece mounted on the lathe…genius!
