I thought I’d share some knowledge on how to repair chairs properly. I’ve seen so many failed repairs, that I hope this helps people learn do fix chairs the right way. I’ve seen hot glue, screws, nails, and glue applied to the lip of joints – none of these work. I dedicated 20 minutes to show how to do this the right way. I include tips on glue, cleaning up joinery, clamping, and disassembly. I hope you find this educational. Scott

Very good video Scott I enjoy every video of yours that I have seen, you make what you’re doing very clear and have good camera work and good quality audio without lots of annoying music in the background making it difficult to hear.
This video on chair repair brings out all of the important points on disassembly in my thoughts one of the most critical aspects of chair repair. This video reminded me of the trick of using vinegar to loosen the glue, something I’ve done in the past but had forgotten about. The other idea you had is the use of a wedge to help give you leverage during the disassembly process.
I do have a couple of suggestions, first of all, I recommend the use of the larger one-hand Irwin heavy-duty clamps that are perhaps 10 times stronger than the original and the second suggestion is the use of the Curved-Hobby-Syringe to be able to get more vinegar in the joint you’re trying to soften the glue with.
Keep making your great videos,I really enjoy and learn from them

Thanks Scott for another informative video. And thanks for the reminder of the vinegar trick. Does it work with all glues or just hyde glue?
