Wood moves. Ignore it and the wood will split! Learn why and how to avoid it

This cabinet was repaired by someone who didn’t understand that wood moves. Yes, it moves. The general rule of thumb is that for every 12”, expect 1/4” of wood movement between summer and winter. There are technical ways to determine wood movement for your specific project using a wood movement calculator.
