Push stick choices and safety - 20 replies

I posted up some push “shoes” in the project section. Someone just commented that about 40 yrs ago a cabinet maker gave him the idea of using an awl as a push stick. He said he’s been using it since then. He asked if it was a good or bad habit. I’m thinking not good. Less control and not safe because| of the metal. Seems ...

I just got a crazy deal on this cordless Milwaukee 16 gauge nail gun. They had a clearance tag on it. Retail was $399 and the clearance price was $100.03. LOL. I grabbed it up. It came with the battery, charger, and soft case. I checked to see if the other store in town had the deal also. They didn’t.

Extruded aluminum Uni fence replacement - 3 replies

I’m not sure if this is something that would help, but Peachtree has this Uni Saw replacement fence/face. It can also be attached to other fences if you want a dead flat fence face. If I hadn’t already attached an aluminum fence to mine, I probably would have got this instead.

I just received my 38” aluminum straight edge from Peachtree Woodworking. I’ve been wanting one for a while. They had a deal. Buy the big one and get a 24” one for free. The thick part on the bottom is about 7/16ths. It has inch marks on one side and mm on the other. I like ‘em. Crappy pic, sorry.

Chuck key holder break and fix - 7 replies

Stupid little thing but very convenient. My little plastic chuck key holder broke on my drill press. I tried all sorts of glue including that UV glue. No luck. Kept breaking. It was just not enough glue area to hold. I made a wood holder and painted it black. It’s a snug but easy to access fit. It’ll do. I tried the magnet fix for a ...

New push stick/ shoe - 13 replies

I had a chunk of 2×6 laying around and wanted to cut something. lol. A big push stick seemed like a good idea. I searched the web for ideas. I liked the “shoe” style. I drew a rough freestyle design and came up with this. Cut it out on the bandsaw. I used a 1” forstner bit to make the handle opening. I used the oscillating...

Dust collector remote control - 16 replies

Even though my shop is small, it’s nice to have a remote for the collector. About 8 months ago I bought one of those remotes that people use for lamps or christmas lights. I thought I’d try it on my DC. It’s been working great! It was just hooked up to my table saw originally. I have since hooked it to my router table also. I w...

Would you buy it? - 4 replies

I’ve spotted a New Powermatic 1 1/2 HP bandsaw motor on Craigs List. The seller is asking for $145. I have an old Jet 14” bandsaw that is 1 HP. Is it worth the upgrade for an extra 1/2 HP?
