Thks everyone for your welcoming! just to give you a brief background of me. I’m from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, is located at about 3.5hrs drive from Puerto Vallarta, (nice beach). not sure if you are familiar. Guadalajara will host the next Panamerican games 2011.
I’m new to woodworking, just about 4years, as a hobby. Thks to my job, I travel quite a lot, so I take advantage of this so when I visit USA, I go to the WW stores, Rockler, Woodcraft, and buy tools, and WW supplies, even some finishes and some time special wood.
Is very difficult to find WW stores or supplies of good quality at my home town, that’s why I purchase all from USA, I had bring special wood on my trips from Canada, USA, and Brazil. Unfortunately I can’t buy large power tools, just small enough to put in on my luggage, otherwise I’ll buy a decent table saw !
I had just a few small projects that I’ll post later on, I’m also subscribed to Fine Woodworking magazine, along some other I consider important. I don’t have a real shop, I work on my back yard, I’ll look forward to build a more decent shop in near future.
Again, thks for your kind welcoming!

Welcome. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.

Jorge, I am in Guadalajara for the weekend and wanted to take a piece of local grown wood from Guadalajara. Do you what types of wood are grown and used here?
Thanks,
Dean

Hi Dean, there are quite some woods here although not every place have nice ones, Parota is a very nice one and is wide available, also have nice hard woood like Mezquite, and Barcino, which also are very nice, there are many others but dont recall the names now, if you want I can take you some local places, send me a note to [email protected] I’ll be more than glad to meet you.
