I should have mentioned a good source for sharpening info. The link below is very useful.

Vintage Saw's Saw Filing Treatise

Also, I made a couple holders for my saws to hold them in my wood vise for sharpening. The pictures are probably enough to help you make one if you need it. Just a couple sticks of pine and a screw.

Yep, the source on saw filing you reference is a very good and comprehensive discussion on the topic, I’ve had it printed and on the wall of my shop for years. A must have for any woodworker.

For me personally, those glasses in the last pic are far more helpful than any other sharpening “accessory” I have when it comes to saws ;-)

I have two magnifying visors and two magnifying lamps that I use in addition to my prescription specs. The amount of magnification depends on the saw. For my 15 ppi dovetail saw I just stack them all up and pray for the best ;-)
