You think I'd know better! Woodcraft {:~( Boo! Local Business {:~) Yea! - 11 replies

I’ve been researching a new table saw. The usual, contractor, hybrid, cabinet etc. I really wanted the SawStop blade safety and after working with the SawStop contractor model I decided it would work quite well for me and be a huge upgrade from the 30 year old craftsman contractor unit I’ve had. It has served me well and I kept i...

Will Craftsman Cast Iron Extentions Fit a Sawstop? - 3 replies

I am planning to get a Sawstop Contractor model. The base model comes with fabricated steel wings which may be perfectly fine. But I have an older craftsman saw with perfectly good and flat cast wings. So I’m thinking that they might work well on the Sawstop. So does anyone know if this will work? Also, I would appreciate comments r...

Ridgid Bandsaw Tuneup - 1 reply

I have had a Ridgid 14 inch bandsaw for a few years and it worked just OK. It had a lot of vibration which made it NG for tight work and it would bog down. So I recently did some upgrades. First a friend gave me a 1 1/2 hp motor that fit perfectly. I got a six inch riser block kit which really opens up the cut hieght and a good fence. But i...

Grizzly Sale and Tent Event ???? - 7 replies

I’m in the market for a new table saw and I’m thinking of going to the Grizzly Tent Sale in mid May. Can anyone who has been comment on if it is worth going. It is a few hour drive for me to get there which is no big deal but I want to be sure it is worth the trek! At least potentially. I was hoping that the on line “spri...

Can I put poly over Watco? - 4 replies

I have a keepsake box made from zebra wood. I put three coats of Watco oil on it but it is rougher than I expected. The wood is hard but more porous than I thought it would be. I’m thinking maybe I can improve the finish with poly. Or I can just keep trying to build up coat with Watco but I am not sure i’ll get there that way. ...

Best TS Blade for cutting miter keys? - 7 replies

I am looking for recommendations for the best blade to cut miter keys. I have been working on boxes and don’t like the kerf angles left by my current blade. So I’m interested to hear who is using what to get flat kerfs.

3M Dust Mask - 2 replies

I’m looking to get 3M’s new 7500 series dust mask. Amazon has the large for $19 but it seems to be just the mask. No filters not holders etc. The info on the site as to what is needed to make the mask usable for particulate (P100) is impossible to decipher. Has anyone bought this from Amazon or elsewhere and do you know what is n...

Ok, I ciuld have aforded a planer before but soemhow I never had the time. Well aI picked up a Delta 37-190 off Cragies list and I could not be happier. Is it worth looking at a 1998 Unisaw for $850? - 5 replies

I am in the process of upgrading my shop and I am trading my 25 year old Sears Craftsman contractors table saw for a new model. I have been looking at the Grizzly table saws and like the G0715P Hybrid saw or the G0690 Cabinet Saw. Both seem very good prices for what you get. I have also looked at the General “50-200r m1” which I q...
