Over the past week I have been working on the Simmonds No 61 hand saw. The blade was in poor shape and the hand was pretty much worthless. I have tried in the past to save handles, but this one had no hope. I decided to go ahead and make a new one. The wood is maple, 1” thick. Used forstner bits to get the corners perfect and then files and gouges to get the rounded over edges. Cleaned up with sandpaper up to 600 grit, then finished it off with shellac.
