So about a year ago, I bought a 113.298762 Craftsman TS off craiglist. Its a later version of the 113 series, and besides a bit of surface rust, it was in pretty good hape when I bought it. Definitely worth the $75 I paid. The saw has sat mostly idle in my garage until last week when I cleaned it up and made all the necessary tweaks and adjustments. Aligning the blade to the miter slot was a major PITA. I considered ordering the PALS system, but figured I could get the job done the hard way in the 3-4 days it would take for the product to arrive. After about 45 minutes, I got it down to .002. Good ‘nuff.

Then I lubed all the moving parts, aligned the pulleys, installed a new belt, and adjusted the miter stop.

Next, I started tweaking the stock fence. It didn’t take long for me to realize the futility of trying to make this fence work. Like trying to polish a turd. I knew going in that the fence design was marginal at best and was prepared to put some work into a modification. I was really trying to avoid a costly replacement, but this fence is beyond help.

After a bit of research, it seems the Delta T2 was the best bang4buck. I just placed an order with Tools-Plus. $158 shipped. I suppose if this fence does the trick, I’ll have a great saw that cost $225. Hard to beat that. I’m hopeful.

I hope you enjoy the T2 as much as I have. I’ve got no complaints about mine.

I’m sure you are going to enjoy making sawdust with your CraigsList find.

I have a CL find, C’man 113.298030 TS, that came with a Vega Utility fence. I just recieved (from In-Line Industries) machined pulleys that I need to install (already have HF V-Belt). I also installed the PALS (from In-Line Industries). I paid $125.00 for the TS, all in all I have spent about $280.00 to rehab/upgrade/tweak. All I need now is to complete the pulley install, complete dust collection upgrade, align the fence, get a good blade & dado set. I’m psyched to finally make some sawdust with my “new to me” TS!!! Gotta luv CraigsList!!!

I hope your T2 serves you well!

Have your say...
