Woodworking Bucket List - 10 replies

Does anyone else have a woodworking bucket list. I’ll share a few pieces I’d like to build and I’m curious what others hope to build some day when they can (before they can’t). When my skills have improved enough, I’d like to build a Federal Hall Table with inlay and stinging, a highboy dresser and some other piec...

Lee Valley and Veritas - 12 replies

So a few weeks ago I made my first order from Lee Valley. I bought a dovetail saw, honing guide and some inlay and stringing tools. I am extremely impressed by the quality of what I bought. A few days after I received my items they sent out an email about getting 15% back on a gift card for Veritas purchases from 3/26-3/28. I was a little bu...

Resawing with HF Bandsaw - 37 replies

Does anyone have a 14” HF bandsaw that is set up to resaw that actually works well. I have tried and tried with mine and I’m beginning to wonder if I am just wasting my time. Am I better off just buying a better saw?

Converting a planer into a drum sander - 1 reply

Hi all, I’ve been wondering if you can replace the cutter head in a thickness planer with a sanding head. It would be nice to have two tools in one (thickness planer and drum sander) but I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that. I’ve never removed the head from my planer so I guess it might not be time efficient to swap...

WTB 12-13" planer - 30 replies

I’ve been wanting a planer for years but have never been able to justify the expense. Looking for something reasonably priced. I can fix it up if it needs work as long as it moves up and down level and accurately.

Cheap Handplanes - 18 replies

Well I decided to buy an enexpensive $30 bench plane from Lowes. The sole appears to be fairly true and flat. I’m going to keep track of how much time it takes me to get it lapped, tuned and sharpened and then I’ll decide if it was worth it. What are your thoughts? Is a $ 200 or $300 plane really worth it in the end? I’ve nev...

Hi from Kentucky - 2 replies

Hi, i’m Tim Heath from Paducah, KY. I’m just an amateur woodwork looking to learn new skills and show my work. I have several projects underway including jewelry boxes and a shop built replacement top, fence and rail system for my cheap tablesaw. Pictures and projects to come.
