Harvey Tablesaw #1: Ordering and shipping

I have been looking to upgrade my Craftsman 113 contractor saw for some time with a cabinet saw. I looked seriously at the Grizzly product line but could not talk myself into purchasing. I came across a forum post talking about the new Harvey entry into the market. I was intrigued by what I found during my research. On February 9th during one of their “sales” I pulled the trigger on the 36 inch Alpha. I purchased the right side cast iron wing as well.
Total cost $1800.00 plus $425 shipping.

At the time of purchase the saw was on backorder and was expected in sometime in March. I was in no hurry so that was fine. Harvey charged my credit card immediately. Not what was anticipating. I figured they would wait until the unit was shipped.

As I kept an eye on my order via the Harvey website I noticed that the anticipated arrival for the unit was 03/10/2021. I waited until 03/15/2021 to e-mail Harvey customer service just to check in. They quickly responded to my email. They had just received their shipment and were unloading the saws and getting ready to examine them to ensure that they met their requirements.

Finally on March 23 I received notification that the unit had shipped. The freight company was RoadRunner Freight and I was able to follow it as it moved east. My unit was finally delivered on April 16th after several minor issues with the trucking company that was to deliver it to me. The driver of the truck unloaded the pallet and placed it inside my garage workshop for me. I was happy about that as the shipping weight was ~500lbs.

The right cast iron wing is still backordered and anticipated sometime in May.

Next the unpacking.

I can’t speak for you but it did sound positive that they responded quickly to your email and that they wanted to do another level of QC prior to reloading and shipping to you.
