I am finishing a wardrobe made from solid walnut. The finish is Dark Walnut from Watco. The topcoats are Deft Brushing Lacquer, the original, not the waterborne one. On the wardrobe, which I did a month ago, it is great. Nice and shiny, smooth. On the drawer fronts, especially the largest two, it has alligatored. Any ideas? Don’t really want to sand down to bare wood, but will if I have to. I have about 3 coats on.

Take the drawers out and stand them up on end so the fronts are flat, the finish will self level.
