Router extension? Or.. - 3 replies

Musclechuck?Got my big ol’ PC 7539 in the router table, and I’m tired of having to take the ring off to change the bit.Been looking at the Musclechuck, I think it’s the 1E that extends more, or just a bit extension. The extension are more reasonable, but I don’t want any wobble either.Anyone have experience with these? Thanks.

Simple, cheap dust bin - 2 replies

Wife had one of these big plastic barrels for catching rain, after which she decided that was too much work, sitting around and I needed a new dust bin. It was too tall obviously so this was my solution. It works pretty well as it has some flexibility to it.I cut the top off about 2” below the rim which left a shallow v shape around it w...

Delta 34-670 tablesaw 5000 - 1 reply

Bought one last night, paid $125 for it, no rip fence or miter gauge. It does run though.Seems like a lot for kind of a crappy tablesaw, but I just couldn’t resist that Incra miter 5000 sitting on top of it.The 5000 is a bit rough, a few gouges in the aluminum, but nothing a few minor parts replacements won’t fix.I don’t look at this as getting ...

Grizzly bandsaw tire shreds - 5 replies

I can’t figure out what happened here. I’ve got a grizzly G0457 14” bandsaw, used occasionally, mine is a hobby shop, and yesterday, I needed it, pulled the tension lever over, hit the switch and bang! Thought the blade broke, it didn’t, but the tire on the upper wheel had come off and was coiled up near the blade guide. Tire is mostly in one pi...

Router table extension - 1 reply

I know this has probably been talked about a lot, but I’m going to build a router table into my 52” table saw extension and I’m looking for ideas. It’s an old powermatic with 3’ to the right of the table. It has an old heavy duty biesemyer fence on it, and, I wound up with an extra fence that I could modify to be a dedicated router fence. ...

Euro or pork chop guard - 5 replies

I’ve got my Inca jointer/planer up and running, but still missing the cast aluminum piece that holds the guard.Looking at it, I don’t think it would be real difficult to build a wood pork chop guard similar to what Mathias Wandell put on his home build jointer. My question is for those that have used both styles of guards, which do y...

Shop countertops - 9 replies

I’m building a miter saw station and I have 4 30” base cabinets, two for each side. For the tops, Menards has 6’x24” workbench tops made out of particle board, which I’m going to edge with hardwood and top with tempered hardboard. I’d like to glue the hardboard down with something that could be reversed to re...

Router table top - 4 replies

Planning on moving my router table to the 52” tablesaw, and was wondering what would be the best material for the top. I can get either Baltic birch, which would be double layered, or 1” MDF with formica.I have a base made from Norms plans that will be mounted under the tablesaw wing with the router.I know, a separate table is prefer...

IT LIVES!!!! - 4 replies

Over two years ago I answered a local ad for an Inca 550 jointer/planer. It turned out that his father in law had given it to him in the hopes he would show some interest in woodworking as he is getting up there in years and has quite a collection of equipment. But, the young man is a welder and has no interest in woodwork. It was missing the ou...

Sold my jointer - 10 replies

Been reworking my shop layout, don’t have a lot of room, and was considering going with a Cutech 8” portable, so, I sold my Jet 6”, actually got what I paid for it 10 years ago. While I was helping the guy load it in his truck, I realized, this thing looks like the day I bought it! I almost never use it. Looked around the shop ...

PM65 Shark Guard - 9 replies

Got it yesterday installed last night. What a great product. They didn’t list the 65 on their web site, so I emailed and asked, and Lee Styron and I started talking and figured out a way to make it work. He would send drawings that I could print out and I would tell him what he needed to change. Made a little adapter out of a piece of 2...

Mobil miter saw cabinet - 2 replies

I’m making almost everything in my shop movable, and the next thing I’m working on is the miter saw mobile cabinet. There are no end to ideas for these, and I’m going to build one with very simple fold down side wings for longer stock. Miter saws are tough to manage decent dust collection, so I was toying with not connecting to...
