I’m building a pie safe for my wife to store quilts in. I’ve attached a photo. I’m going put glass in the door rather than the punched tin. I’m using live oak for the legs, rails, stile and panels. How long do you guys wait after gluing up a panel before sanding or planing? I understand that the wood swells a tiny bit at the joints due to the moisture in the glue so it’s good to let it dry to prevent depressions in the finished surface. I’ve been waiting a week and it seems to provide good results but I was wondering if I could...

Economy Edge Plane - 4 replies

I needed to true up a piece of cherry and didn’t have an edge plane or very good hand plane skills. Clamped a square piece of oak on a Bailey No. 5 and it worked surprisingly well.!
