I began woodworking in 2002. I enjoy building everything from birdhouses and toys to furniture. Most of my woodworking education has come from observing some very talented friends and family members; as well as a couple local very excellent custom cabinet builders, and more recently from what I view on LJs. My little shop is overcrowded with tools so instead of buying more I'm trying to master the ones I have.
My wife, Amy and I have been married for 47 years and have two children and 4 grandchildren. I make my living in my contracting/retail flooring and home center business, see more of that at finneysfloor.com.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I joined LJ’s before surfing around in here to “check you all out”. Now that I’ve done so, I feel like a third grader who is wandering the halls in high school. YIKES!! You are all very talented, skilled, committed to excellence and generous with encouragement and support of one another. I like it here. Thank you again.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I am looking forward to sharing and learning with all of you. All phases of woodworking has been my life long hobby – furniture, cabinets, sheds & decks, refinishing, restoration, and jigs & fixtures. The shop (man cave in today’s terminology) is a 2-car garage – a little crowed but easy to heat! And a nice storage shed helps a lot too!
