This tool will be quite a large undertaking for novice ol’ me, but I’m poor and have a pile of cherry and walnut logs in my carport that need to be resawn into dream guitars and heirloom furniture (in my head). I’m just starting the journey, so be patient. I have a 15 month old son and a lovely wife that take precedence. When I’ve had it with one of them, I seek refuge in my man cave and work on my saw. Part 2: Preparing the Frame

I don’t usually pray for wood, but with finances tight and a penchant for “up-cycling”, I mentioned it to the Ol’ Boy. A few days later the bread shop down the street pulled out a bunch of 2×4” and wooden shelving from their warehouse. The manager let me haul it all away. The shelving is 3/4” softwood that was screwed together. The total amount of good wood is just the amount needed for the entire frame. I also hauled away the 2×4s and 3/4̶...

Part 3: Well, it's never too late to continue a project.

I was astonished to see that my last update was over 300 days ago. Life is eating me alive! So I’m beginning the frame glue up. Here are some triangle braces being glued on. A little nervous, but so far so good. I’m trying to keep everything square and level in the process. All my cuts have not matched well, so I’m doing a little sanding to some ends on my Shopsmith sanding wheel to get them squared off. Be good to your wood.
