Part 1: Inspiration and Ideas

10-29-2015 12:28 PM by Sioranth | 2 comments »

I inadvertently have found myself in a position where there is an expectation of woodworking gifts for the holidays this year. I guess that’s what I get for posting all my little projects on Facebook where my family can see them. So, for my father I am going to be making a six-pack beer tote out of mahogany and quarter sawn sycamore. I’m hoping it looks as good as I envision it will when it’s finished. It’s going to have rare earth magnets for catching the bottle ca...

Part 2: Reindeer Fail

12-07-2015 10:09 PM by Sioranth | 0 comments »

So, after several weeks of trying to make SLD’s Rocking Reindeer, I have given up on them entirely. Everything was going fine right up until gluing on the legs and rockers. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the holiday gifts for my parents done in time. They just kept breaking every time I touched them. My dad’s six-pack holder was probably more glue than wood at this point. Maybe next year.

Part 5: So Glad...

01-02-2016 12:40 AM by Sioranth | 0 comments »

...To be done with these planned gifts. I believe I must have been cursed from the beginning as I’ve never had such a horrid time trying to make something. I had to completely scrap my father’s first six-pack holder and make an entirely new one (after several childish hissy fits on my part). My mother’s gift was still being glued back together tonight, so it just needs to hold until tomorrow then they will be in their possession. Sheer stubbornness is the only reason thes...
