So, I’m having a bit of woodworking ADD lately while trying to work on holiday gifts. I have a million things to do so of course I’m procrastinating. I decided to attempt making my own pattern and went with a simple cupcake box. I’ve seen the ones that are round and look like actual cupcakes, but I wanted mine to be a flat box with a sort of intarsia top. I drew up the pattern in Inkscape and started cutting. The box is being glued at the moment so I’ll cut it tomorrow. The top and bottom are cut, sanded, and oiled though. I just love the huge difference you can make in a piece with some sanding.

I’m using padauk (bottom), bocote (frosting), bird’s eye maple (cupcake), bloodwood (cherry). The box will be oak sandwiched between layers of river gum.
