I with my family decided to make a gift to our frend for St. Valentine’s day. Since recently I have been trying to carve gingerbread molds with varying success. So I was going to carve something for this case.
Preparing a panel board from basswood:

Drawing a heart contour:

Starting deepening the shape with a knife and a curved gauge:

Continuing to deepen the shape:

Flattening the bottom with the other curved gauge:

Shaping the mold sides with the knife:

Planing the bottom with a selfmade scraper:

Drawing a sketch for carving:

Carving a scripture (it’s an our frend’s name in reverse) and a picture (a emoticon):

After treating with leenseed oil:

My wife baked a gingerbread with this mold and that what is turned out:

We presented the mold and the gingerbread to our frend at St. Valentine’s day and she looked pretty happy with it.

May all you be happy!
