« Part 1: Plans Part 2 of Wood Shop Construction series Part 3: New Foundation Plan »

Hi Jocks,

Well, I think the snow is finally behind us. We took a maple tree down yesterday that was crowding the job site. Most of it will be chipped and split, and I’m tempted to have the lower 7 foot section rough sawn into planks. I need to figure that one out, as the effort to get it to a saw mill might be too much.

I also started digging the hole for my cornerstone pier and started hitting water at 40”. The frost line here is 45” so I’m a little concerned now…

Materials showing up tomorrow! I’m changing my foundation to a leveled ground with fill dirt and a 3” layer of rock. I’m going to lay the floor frame and joists on pressure treated 4×4s. Still meets the local code as the building is less than 600 square feet.
