Mid-50's, grew up as a landscape contractor - worked my ass off for the family business since...well, forever - went to school - business/finance major - now a financial advisor currently with a group, Tax and Financial Group, in Newport Beach CA - married 30 long years (only 1/2 kidding about the "long" comment), 3 great daughters. Hunt birds, fish, all watersports - boat related as well as surfing, some golf.

Self taught in anything wood/construction related. LOVE working with my hands - something I don't get a chance to do in my real job - sucks, but....the pay is good. My projects tend to be more construction oriented - built an incredible playhouse (8' x 10', electricity, etc.) for the girls, wainscoting in the house, wood floors, crown moldings, doors....would love to have the skills to build furniture or whatever but....maybe in retirement or something. I watch those shows on TV where everything comes out nice and precise, clean and effortlessly and am amazed - of course it was probably the 100th take after lots of screw ups......One thing I LOVE to do is buy, fix-up/repair, sell machinery - particularly table saws - I find table saws to be beautiful - like I could almost see a museum or art gallery displaying them - it's definitely an obsession/sickness, but could be worse (could be strip clubs, opium dens, casinos....whatever). No money in these activities - make a couple hundred $ on buying, moving, repairing/inspecting, a 500 pound or whatever table saw - so not at all justifiable from a financial standpoint, but fun. I always really like the conversations/interactions I have with buyers/sellers. I have found transacting on Craig's to be a really efficient and enjoyable process - I love the getting to know guys, the "negotiating", the humor of some of the crazy offers - but NEVER offended by the low-ball offers - I don't mind, even fully understand - and can always say "NO", or counteroffer. Also - never list anything on Craig's - or anywhere else - for the price you really want to get. List it a little high, KNOWING that you will take a lower offer - that is part of the fun - everyone thinking/knowing they got a good deal, or what they wanted out of it. I hate those ads that say "FIRM", or "Don't waste my time with low-ball offers" or the like. I wouldn't pay the listed price for something even if it is a good/fair deal - just not part of the process - if you really wanted $x.xx for it, you should have listed it for $x.xx PLUS 10% or whatever!

Anyway - enough about you, let's talk about me for awhile!!! No, that's it. Thanks for welcoming me in. Todd
