MJ SteelPro Splitter for Full and Thin Kerf - 2 replies

Does anyone know if the drill guide and splitters hole spacing for the Micro Jig Steel Pro is the same for the Thin and Full Kerf? I know the regular plastic splitters use a different hole pattern, but the steelpro looks the same for thin and full. I have a variety of kerfs and I’m hoping I can buy one kit with the drill guide and just ...

Ebony accents from turning blanks - 2 replies

Are there any reasons using waxed ebony turning blanks would be a bad idea for greene and greene accent pieces? i.e. will exposing the “green” inside of the turning blank after cutting and shaping cause problems once the small pieces are installed? I’m thinking the pieces would be small enough that any movement wouldn’t b...

Grizzly 20" g1033 list price? - 2 replies

I’m looking at used planers and trying to determine what the list price for a g1033 20” Straight knife planer was when it was new. Haven’t found it after a through search. Thanks!

New grizzly segemented cutterheads? - 14 replies

I just got the 2017 catalog and it looks like grizzly is now selling a Byrd clone. The inserts are a mounted at a shear angle like the Byrd’s, rather then straight on like the older grizzly segmented cutterheads. Based on the pictures, it looks like the grizzly inserts don’t have as much clearance under the cutter compared to the Byr...

Dia-Sharp diamond plate grit selection - 1 reply

I’m looking into buying a couple of DMT’s dia-sharp diamond plates. Ideally I’d like 2 use two plates and the a leather strop with green honing compound. I was thinking of getting their course (45 micron / 325 mesh) and extra fine (9 micron / 1200 mesh) plates. Is the jump from 325 to 1200 too much? I noticed there duo shar...

wet sanding colored danish oil - 3 replies

I’ve had success in the past wet sanding natural danish oil into oak for the purpose of grain filling, anyone done this with the colored versions? I’m specifically looking at the red mahogany danish oil wet sanded into white oak. I really dislike how the open pores of oak get so dark when stained, practically black. I’m hoping ...

JTS Machinery 15" palner - 1 reply

This company appears to still be selling the old generic 15” Chinese/Taiwan planers that so many other companies were selling 10-15 years ago. I’ve heard generally good things about these performance of this line of generic planers, but does anyone have any experience with the particular ones from JTS? http://m.jtsmach.com/jtswebs...

Jointer riser blocks - 2 replies

I have a small basement shop, about 12’x20’. In spite of the size, I’ve come to the point where I’m determined to make it work for me and not let my lack of floor space determine my choice in machinery. I recently bought an 8 inch jointer but didn’t have a great option for positioning it in my shop. I ended up insta...

Delta 37-280 belt length? - 2 replies

Are there any owners of a delta 37-280 jointer that can give me the specs for the belt? I’m selling mine but need to replace the belt and I can’t seem to find this information anywhere.

Bending Lauan for bent lamination chairs - 4 replies

My local supplier has 1/4” exterior glue bending lauan plywood. I’m thinking of buying a couple of sheets to experiment with some bent lamination exterior chairs. Seems like a cheap way to practice and prototype. Anyone have any experience making bent lamination with this material? Should I expect a lot of spring back from lami...

Motor bearing measurement help - 2 replies

I’m trying to replace the motor bearings on My Ridgid TS3650. I got everything pulled apart and I’m looking at the bearings. There is one 6202ZE and one 6203ZE (It seems that the “ZE” is the factory model number and the replacements are all “ZZ”). I’ve found replacements online, but the widths don’...

Contractor Saw motor shutdown shutter - 3 replies

My Ridgid TS3650 is experiencing some shuttering/jerking when the motor shuts down. It hops a little on start up, but it’s much more noticeable on shut down. When it gets towards the end of shutting down it jumps a bit a makes a pretty audible ca-chunk, if a zero clearance insert is being used you can here the blade make a nice wang sound....

Grizzly Planer Rollers on Dewalt? Weird snipe issues - 1 reply

Anyone know if g0505 rollers (part # P0505040A) will fit in a Dewalt dw733? The parts diagrams look almost identical, and I know a lot of these machines are built in the same factories with some shared parts. The Grizzly parts are quite a bit cheaper when combined with some other items I might order from them. Shot in the dark but figured I thro...

Air Drying Oak Lumber - Mold Problem? - 12 replies

My father in law had a significant amount of white oak milled for me and it’s been air drying in the loft of a barn in central IL for about 8 months. Most of it is cut to 5/4 and 6/4. I checked out the pile today to see how the moisture content is coming along and after removing the top layer of boards I saw what seemed like a significant ...

Touchy Grizzly TS power switch - 1 reply

Picked up a used Grizzly 1023sl in awesome condition. Everything works great but I noticed that the power switch seems a little sensitive. If i don’t gently turn the saw on it seems to “jump” a little on start up. Not enough to fail a nickel test, but it’s a little annoying. If i press the on button softly it starts up r...

Cabinet Saw Tool gloat - 12 replies

Picked up a grizzly G1023sl last night, $500. About as clean as you could possibly expect for a 12 year old saw. Table tops near mint, zero wear on the fence. All stock accessories plus a heavy duty mobile base, several fancy grizzly throat plate inserts, and a decent 60 tooth blade (should compliment my current 90 tooth melamine and 40 tooth co...

Transporting Cabinet Saw - 15 replies

I’m considering a used Grizzly g1023sl to replace my ridgid contractors saw. It’s about 2 hours away and I’m planing on renting an enclosed uhaul trailer to move it. I think the saw can fit in the trailer without disassembling it if I remove the fence and splitter. I’m wondering if I should remove the motor so it’s ...

Converting single speed Air filter to multi-speed - 5 replies

I’m looking at a used Delta 50-860 for my small shop (12’x22’). This unit is a single speed 850cfm, a bit over kill for my shop but leaves room for growth and the price is right. I don’t know much about the fans in these things, would it damage the motor to add speed control? Assuming I can find one that is appropriate fo...

hanging air filtration sideways - 5 replies

I’m looking to add a air filtration unit to my small basement shop (approx 12’x22’ with 7’ ceilings). Space is at a premium in my shop, including head room. I’ve found a used JDS-2000 unit that measures 24×34x12, overkill for my shop , but the price is good and should work well on the lowest setting. Main qu...

Grizzly D3968 riser kit on HF bandsaw - 1 reply

Does anyone know if the Grizzly D3968 bandsaw riser kit is compatible with the Harbor Freight 32208 bandsaw? The grizzly kit is made for the Stellex ST1000 saw, which looks pretty much the same as all the other 14” saws, but I’ve heard the blade guide posts can different diameters. Anyone used this kit?
