Retired Air Force NCO, kids are grown and on their own (pretty much!). Just me and the Missus. Getting tired of "real jobs" and am considering turning my woodworking hobby into - I hope! - a bit of extra income. I tell folks the two things I make the most of is noise and sawdust. But, I do occasionally turn out an actual finished product.
I like making smallish boxes and such. Sometimes I make some slightly larger in-the-house items, like shelves, smaller cabinetry and the like. I build almost all of my things "on the fly", designing, sizing and shaping the pieces to fit what I've already done. Kind of like "This is a really sweet piece, with some lovely grain and color. It'd make a gorgeous front or lid for a box!" I'll size and shape it, then build the box/whatever around that. (Plans? We don' need no steenkin' PLANS!) That may have to change, if I want to turn out more than one piece every however long it takes me...
I've found a LOT to like and emulate on this site! I can't wait to get going at it again. I'll post a few of my favorite, older projects, while I'm waiting for warmer weather. Only have my un-heated garage to work in for now. Hoping to change that, too, if I can!
Any local folks that wouldn't mind helping a New Guy get started in the 'business' of woodworking, feel free to contact me through here. Your advice and experience would be most welcome!

Dusty, for someone who has just been on this site for a day, you sure have made the most of it. Looks like you have got the process of posting down and have had fun doing it. Your photos are nice. It helps readers if you tell them dimensions since that perspective does not always come through in photos.
I like your projects. Keep boxing and keep posting.
