Help with SawStop blade/brake adjustment - 15 replies

I’ve been with SawStop support technicians twice today to help me resolve why I cannot widen the gap enough for my dado blade and dado cartridge when I only need about a 1/64” more travel than for my 10” blade setup. I’m hoping someone on the forum might have an answer. What happens is the bracket that holds the brake cartridge seems to hit m...

Cyclone accident - 12 replies

So I bought an old Clearvue Cyclone used on CL not too long ago. Its one of the older models in unpainted MDF. After spending quite some time setting it up, doing the electrical, it was time to test the baby. The unit I bought came with a Grizzly wireless starter that I mounted right next to and below the cyclone. I ran the unit twice for about ...

Are dust extractor (shopvac) makers lying? - 0 replies

I’ve researched a lot about vacuum motors and I don’t think it’s physically possible to get anywhere near the cfm and water lift numbers that the high end dust extractors claim to get. Bosch claims 150 cfm and something like 99” lift for their vac and the others: festool/fein aren’t far behind. And they do this usin...

Anyone try upgrading their HF DC impeller? - 75 replies

The Harbor Freight 2HP Dust Collector has a 10” impeller. By most accounts this is too small for a 2HP system leaving usable HP off the table. I’d like to know if anyone has successfully done the upgrade and if they did, what part# did they use. I’ve done a lot of searching, but haven’t seen any part numbers of success...

[Auction in Benicia, CA] What's the deal on showing links to auctions? - 3 replies

FYI, this is NOT my auction. I see an auction that might be a once in a lifetime find. It hasn’t started yet, but maybe some jocks here don’t want me to “spread the word” so they can get a good price. So what’s the deal? Is it okay to show it or not?

Recommendations for Leigh Dovetail Jig Router Bits? - 4 replies

I recently got a used Leigh D1258 series (compatible w/ D4) dovetail jig without router bits.Any recommendations on which bit sets I should get? The Leigh branded ones are a bit pricey. Many sets are missing the 12 deg half-blind bit (perhaps b/c its not a very poplar one?). What do you guys recommend?

ABEC bearings for a planer. Are they worth it? - 4 replies

I’m preparing to do a restoration on a Makita 2040 15” planer.I’m wondering if it makes sense to upgrade the cutter bearings to ceramic ABEC class 7 bearings. They are $68 each at as opposed to $2 each for normal bearings. Would the repetitive impacts of 15” blades hitting wood quickly downgrade the bearings fro...

This was gonna be a tool gloat, but.... - 3 replies

The last few days I’ve been seeing a few amazing deals on CL and kept missing them. There was even a delta 8” jointer and Uni-Saw for FREE! Can you imagine that? Well, I found a Makita 2040 15” planer listed for $50 so I jumped on it and got it. To get it, we had to drive 2hrs through through some hills and windy roads, but we ...

Fold "UP" outfeed table - 20 replies

Usually I see outfeed tables that fold down when not in use.Since I have to park the car in the garage in front of the table saw, I’d like the outfeed table to be able to fold up and over the top of the TS top. In the folded up position, it would serve as a nice assembly/glue up table (keeping glue off the TS). Has anyone ever seen/heard/r...
