Natural edge bowl #1: Starting a first for me

I am just now getting into natural edge or “live edge” turning. Got this piece from LJ Jim Jakosh. Sol far I am learning a lot. I am doing this all by trial and error. Here are a few pics of the bowl so far

I just started this year making natural edge bowls. I noticed in your last picture your bark is much wider at the sides and thin at the ends, I did the same thing. After some thought I realized that you must make the sides of your bowl straight down till you get past the bark then you can curve the bowl inward. This will make the bark the same thickness all the way around the bowl.

hey, Rick. you re on your way. Pull that tail stock out and get ‘er done!!

Did you CA glue the bark to hold it in place? Then you can made the side wall real thin.
