Which part of the drill bit goes into the chuck? Yes, it's almost that bad...

So, I'm a father of four little ones, and in the military. We move a lot, and by necessity, my shop and furniture have to be easily moved too. That usually results in modular designs, and knock-down furniture. I spend a painful amount of time in Sketch up making sure my crazy ideas -- which are usually far more complicated than reasonable/necessary -- will work. So, I'm going to be doing a lot of work with self-supporting stuff, and pinned/through tenons. Advice and suggestions/ideas are always welcome.
