It worked well for that project, and with a few modifications, I thought I could turn it into a pendant lamp in its own right. Since I’m in need of some additional lighting in the upstairs hall, and since I’m on a lighting kick (just finished a tripod floor lamp), I jumped right into this project.
After studying the earlier lamp, I decided on these basic modifications for the new pendants:- 5 bands of veneer instead of 3
- Slightly wider veneer bands
- Increased center diameter to make it easier to get to the light socket
- 5 ribs instead of 4
After an evening designing the pieces on the computer, I was ready to go….
