Wood and metal projects. #1: Textured oak bench with industrial metal legs.
This is a oak slab bench which I textured using a Kutzall shaping wheel. I was going for a pleasing rustic look for the wood portion of the build. Under it I fabricated an industrial leg assembly using .180 thou. sheet metal and 1” X 1/4” hot rolled flat stock spot welded to the sheet metal. The full description is included in the video. One thing I didn’t mention in the vid description is that I did not flatten the slab. All too often, woodworkers, including myself is dead set in perfect flatness, which is required for cabinet and furniture work. But in this case I left the twist and used it as part of the look.
