Welcome to Ljs
I think we all feel like our shops are at the end of the Rainbow. Look forward to some inside shots.

As a lifelong shooter and admirer of fine firearms, that rifle stock is world class. Firearms of the old makers are so often examples of superb craftsmanship and artistry, and they are durable markers of American history.

Thanks Ol Chief, it is an exeptional pc of maple. An interesting part of this is that the stain is home made, something I have been testing for several months. It mimicks what was used in the 18/19th centuries by builders of muzzleloaders, a mixture called aqua fortis. That is nitric acid with rusted iron dissolved in it. The stain I made is vinegar with rusted iron dissolved in it. Same process, just using a weaker acid. This is what it looked like before and after the finish was applied. A finish called permalyn sealer. (4 applications of the stain)
