Free Scroll Saw - 2 replies

I have an older scroll saw that I am not using and want to give to someone. It is the saw that I started out on and might be good for a beginner. I found a used Hegner that I am currently using. It was made by Penn State in 1990 and is a 15” variable speed one. The bellows does not work but it has an aquarium pump to blow dust away. ...

I did this a couple of times and then used oil based poly. It came out very well… I have some Birdseye Maple and wondering about it. Several places suggested a similar procedure and I...

I have a piece of maple burl that is 1-1/2” square by 6”. It is dry and fairly light and I think I need to stabilize it before turning. There are no obvious hole or inclusions. Steam Sawmill - 4 replies

I went to a steam show at the local county fair ground and was really impressed. They had a working old sawmill and was driven by a huge steam engine. I think the engine was from the 1920s. Forged in Fire - 4 replies

Anyone watch the blacksmithing show Forged in Fire? It is interesting watch them make a blade out of scrap. The last one I watched they had to make a blade out of anything they could cut off of a car. One of the contestants was a young kid who did well. It was good to see younger people blacksmithing.
