I have recently started upgrading my shop dust collection from a 1.5 HP Jet to a Oneida Super Dust Gorilla. The old system was piped with 4” PVC but this was not adequate for the new cyclone system. Looking at the various options, I went with 6” SDR35 PVC piping and fittings. Fortunately, I have a Menards which stocks both the 6” pipe and the fittings. Part 2: Blast Gates

With the updated system, I needed 6” blast gates for my shop. I was not very happy with the metals ones and the price of them. So, like others, I decided to make my own. For the gates, I would need to have one side be able to mate to the SDR35 6” wyes that I was using so this required a securely fitting the 6” pipe.
