My brand new Grizzly Bandsaw (re: toy) was to be delivered on Wednesday by a certain shipping company (not DOWNS but…). Anyway, on Wednesday they left a note on my door that they would try again Thursday. So I took off work for the whole day. By 4PM I was a little concerned; I went on line, traced my shipping number, confirmed that it would be delivered in fact on Thursday. So I waited… Six o’clock; still no saw. Called the 800 number on the back of the note. A very polite, yet automated female voice confirmed my saw would be delivered today (Thursday). She warned that the delivery could be as late as 7PM. So I still had some hope. 6:30PM: the phone rings, Sir, this is the shipping company calling to confirm your delivery for Friday between 3 and 6 PM. After counting to ten I politely but firmly responded how angry I was that I burned a day of vacation so that I would be home on THURSDAY! when their automated system told me they would deliver. So now it’s Friday. Going home early (more vacation time). But the good news… I’m still getting a new “toy.” Sooner or later.

better late than never

on the plus side
you will have a nice toy to play with
the wait and hassle
will be a forgotten memory then

As they say….
Good things come, to those that wait!

Of course they also say….
Good things come in small packages!!

If that’s true….
GREAT things must come in huge boxes from big trucks!!!

Enjoy your new toy….

-- Randy-- I may not be good...but I am slow! If good things come to those who wait.... Why is procrastination a bad thing?

I am willing to say it. You are talking about UPS Freight. Those imbeciles can’t get schedules right to save their lives. I had a winch mount for our truck delivered by them last fall and had a similarly poor experience with their rescheduling of the delivery. They finally got it to me after I got the BBB involved and got the shipping fee refunded.

Wonder why their freight service is poor. I’m amazed at how accurate and reliable their regular service is. At some point I’m expecting the tracking info to tell me what the driver had for lunch and what song was on the radio when they delivered my item.

Doesn’t have to be them. I had a delivery of a new dishwasher from HD a couple of weeks ago and it went even worse. The sub who delivers from them botched the whole thing.

It’s only because I hacked into the system and am having it delivered to me. Enjoy your new saw. Super jealous

NORMG – You have know idea how right you were…

As I originally posted: the delivery was to have been Friday between 3 and 6. I got home at 1:50; just in case it came early. As soon as I got home I let the dogs out one of my two back doors. There sat two boxes! No note on the front door. Just dumb luck I used that door. Had I used the other door I would not have seen them. They came through my privacy gate, left two 20 foot long ruts in my lawn (not that my lawn is all that; no big deal). Some good news the boxes were intact, no dents or tears.

I called UPS. The same person who had told me the delivery was scheduled for later Friday explained that the driver was miss-directed to deliver in the AM, not the PM. And that his supervisor gave him permision to put the packages on the back porch.

Compensation: They are refunding me the $35 “liftgate” fee. Not much considering…

Saw is put together, I’ll post a review soon.
