I started woodworking in the mid 90's. I wish I had more of an interest when I was younger!
Am mostly interested in furniture, particularly Craftsman / Arts and Crafts / Shaker styles for myself, but will build anything to suit. On the balance I’ve done more remodeling and built-ins than furniture making over the years. Oh, and custom one-off projects that you can't go to a store to buy.
Salvaged wood is my favorite: framing, crates, discarded store displays, "bad" / out of style furniture, woodpile finds, etc. whenever it is available / possible. I also like getting wood from small local sawyers reclaiming urban trees that would otherwise be wasted.
I use more power tools than hand tools, but enjoy turning abused tools into users.
