setting up some holders for the cups. went with a few design options in Shaper3D, and all things considered, went with one option that seemed the most reasonable to put together with what I’ve got in a short amount of time (tools and materials). since this is a prototype of sorts, it would be fine either way. My concerns that were harder to identify in a 3D app is accessibility and comfort in use. so we’ll see how well this will turn out.
Starting with some reclaimed pallets that I’ve milled and glued together into some bars many moons ago:
rough cut it into 2 holders length to turn at the same time:
gave each a lip, and cut in half:
to add some stability and make sure the cups don’t tilt over (even though there is a lip), I’ve added an angled cut for the holders to tilt at using a made up miter guide (in retrospect, I should have made the miter angle vertical to make it easier to follow with the saw):
and using some spacers and clamping magic tried to hold everything together as best I could (this would benefit from some fixtures to help hold everything tighter, but with epoxy bond it worked OK):
