« Part 1: First summer show.. ehhh..... Part 2 of Craftscape my Joinery series Part 3: Craft show and Wine fest in PA »

Now that Martin has made blog posting easier…. Here is the next installment in my craft blog. I have done Three more events in the last two months and am currently getting ready for a solid Christmas show run.

The first week in September was at Bethel Woods it was a Wine and Cheese festival. Bethel Woods is on the former site of Woodstock. The venue was Beautiful and the turn out was pretty good. I think like 4500 people. My wife Brandy did a excellent job selling Wine tilts, they were a big hit with the Wine fest goers, sold about 30 tilts. I also sold 4 or 5 CB’s and one Lazy susan.
We made the Wine tilts the Main feature of our both along with some small cheese boards and Brandy pretty much demonstrated the balancers all day. I felt like we should have done better, it was a lot of work for a few hundred bucks.

What I learned about Wine fests. The Craft Vendor boths need to be mixed in with the Wine vendors booths. That way as everybody is waiting to taste Wine they can look at your products and maybe buy something. The problem at this event was of the 4500 people attending only about 1/2 wandered down to the Craft tents. Which I feel cut into the overall take for everyone. I noted this with the organizer and she thought that next year that would be a better option.

Looks like it was at least a pretty day. The only thing worse than a bad show is a wet bad show. I usually don’t do well at food festivals because people come to eat and drink. If they are coming specifically for crafts, then you get a lot of traffic and sales. Fortunately, we are getting into the Christmas buying season and most shows will do very well through the rest of the year.

I like your candle holders. You should post pictures of them.
